I paid at a restaurant but the amount on the receipt looks different. Is this fraud?

Not necessarily. Differences between the amount you approved and the amount that appears on your statement can occur for legitimate reasons:

• Service charge or GST may have been added after the card was presented.
• Some merchants (e.g. hotels, petrol stations, car rentals) place a pre-authorisation hold for a higher amount than the final charge, which is adjusted when the actual charge is settled.
• Foreign currency conversion may affect the final SGD amount shown.

If the difference is significant and cannot be explained by the above, contact the merchant first. If unresolved, email account@aletaplanet.com with the receipt and transaction details.
